Annual winter check: Weheat gives heat pumps a head start

30 September 2026

Before the heating season starts, Weheat remotely runs a short heating cycle on all heat pumps to ensure everything is working correctly before the weather turns cold. We completed this process last week and have since notified installers of the results.

Why a winter check?

During the summer, the heating is off and a heat pump typically only provides hot water. If there is an underlying issue, perhaps due to an installation error, you wouldn't notice it until you turn the heating up for the first time. With the winter check, Weheat stays ahead of these issues, allowing enough time for repairs so that no one is stuck in a cold house come November.

This is also beneficial for installers, as they can address any issues now rather than during the busy first weeks of cold weather.

How does the winter check work?

Every Weheat heat pump has its own 4G connection, independent of your home Wi-Fi. This allows Weheat to perform the check entirely remotely, without needing a technician to visit. You don't need to arrange or pay for anything.

Did your heat pump turn on briefly last week without you changing any settings? That was the winter check.

What happens with the results?

If Weheat identifies anything during the check that requires attention, we notify your installer. The installer will then contact you to resolve the issue remotely or schedule a visit. If you don't hear from your installer, your heat pump is working exactly as it should.

If you have any other questions about your heat pump, please contact your installer.
