It is an important first step. In this beta test, Weheat Intelligence focuses on smartly heating your domestic hot water (DHW) tank. It sounds technical, but the concept is simple: your heat pump heats the boiler tank at the cheapest time of the day so you don't have to use expensive electricity during peak hours. You will always have hot water when you need it. You just pay less for it. ‍Weheat Intelligence considers three factors simultaneously:

‍1 Energy prices. With a dynamic energy contract, electricity rates fluctuate every hour. Weheat Intelligence reads these prices and automatically schedules the heating of your boiler tank for the cheapest time of the day. It sounds simple, and it is. But it makes an immediate difference to your energy bill.
2 Weather forecast. This is where Weheat goes further than most other systems. The outside temperature determines how efficiently your heat pump operates. Heat pumps perform better at higher outside temperatures: they extract more heat from the air for the same amount of electricity. Weheat Intelligence checks the weather forecast and shifts the heating cycle to when conditions are most favorable. Not just cheap, but as efficient as possible.
3 Usage patterns. Your household has a rhythm. Weheat Intelligence learns that rhythm. Does your family shower early in the morning? The system ensures the boiler tank is at the right temperature in time, even if cheaper electricity is expected later in the day. Comfort never comes at the expense of savings.

Smartly heating your home is obviously also an important part of Weheat Intelligence, but it will not be part of this first beta test phase; that will be the next step.

Insight into your savings with the Weheat app

Weheat is not just another heat pump company. We are building a smart heating platform, and Weheat Intelligence is a key part of that. All Weheat heat pumps are connected via 4G as standard and continuously send data to the cloud. This connection makes it possible not only to monitor but also to assist. Remotely, in real time, without you having to do a thing.  

We expect the beta test to last a maximum of two months. The 100 participants can see in the app what the intelligence is doing and how much it is saving them. They can also provide feedback on how the information is presented in the app. Meanwhile, we are working hard on the rollout of the next step: smart control for heating your home.

This summer, Weheat Intelligence will be available to all users. From that moment on, your tap water will be managed intelligently. Your heat pump will automatically determine the best time of day to prepare your hot water. It’s cost-effective, sustainable, and comfortable—all without you having to lift a finger. In the meantime, we are also working on smart control for your heating. We will begin rolling this out before the heating season starts.
